John has more than 30 years’ senior commercial experience in blue chip companies such as National Foods, Simplot, Mars Confectionery, Masterfoods, Uncle Ben’s and Bowater Scott. He has served as General Manager across numerous functional streams including Sales, Marketing, Distribution and International and Domestic Business Development. He was also General Manager of National Foods Milk Operation (Victoria) and on the Simplot Board of Management, heading the Shelf Stable Division with brands including Leggos, Edgell and Plumrose.
John’s expertise covers all channels including grocery, convenience, general route, catering, institutional, distribution, delicatessen and other foodservice channels. He led the team that achieved the biggest house brand tender in FMCG, the Woolworths National Milk Contract in 2002 for National Foods, and more recently the Coles and Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Great Ocean Road Strategy.
A past President of the Foodservice Industry Australia (FIA) – Victoria and Tasmania, John was also Chairman of the FIA Awards Committee and has participated on Advisory Boards at a Chairman and Member level.
While John offers an objective, candid and broad cross functional view across all commercial strategies, he is strongly grounded in the reality of what is happening with the market, retailers, shoppers and end users. He is skilled at defining categories, setting objectives, developing strategies and business modelling.
