SBMS is working with the City of Melbourne and Queen Victoria Market management to provide support for all market traders through an innovative program called Trader Connect.
Market traders can access the following programs and support:
The program has been designed to provide existing micro and small business owners with a unique opportunity to up-skill, be supported and enhance core business skills.
The Women in Business and Business Building programs are delivered through six independent workshops. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring to assist with planning, marketing, staffing, stock management and digital enhancement of their businesses.
Workshop titles include:
- Goal Setting
- Decide Your Income
- Marketing - offline
- Marketing - online
- Managing to Succeed
- Creating Your Realistic Business Plan
The program is complemented by access to business skills training videos, podcasts, and local support at the Trader Lounge.
Traders also have access to podcasts from business experts through The Small Business Institute website, and where required, access to a suite of small business networks, professional organisations and experts.

Apart from the great programs on offer, you can book with a mentor at any time.

In discussion with Madalen Ross, SBMS's Trader Connect Program Manager and Business Mentor in Residence. Madalen will be meeting with traders around the market each week. She can assess your needs and arrange a suitable mentor, or be your mentor herself.
