Chris Stillwell - BIO
Chris is the middle sibling of five family members that work together in their Melbourne based Family Enterprise.
He started his working life over 45 years ago in the Family Car company as an apprentice motor mechanic, gaining technical experience working on passenger cars, racing cars, heavy trucks, and farm machinery. Chris had the opportunity to work across many parts of Australia in both car and heavy truck businesses. In the 1980’s and later in the 1990’s he had two separate secondments overseas totaling twelve years working in the USA.
Later career Executive Leadership Roles include 15 Years as Group CEO of the family Melbourne based automotive business, ($600M turnover, 600 plus employees), 10 years as Non-Executive Director for an ASX Listed Automotive Group, various General Manager roles of automotive related businesses and COO of the Family USA direct equity diversified business portfolio.
Today Chris is the Chair of the Stillwell Family Board, serves as a non-Executive Director on the Stillwell Motor Group Board which is a second-generation family car business that has been a Melbourne institution for over 70 years. He also serves as a non-Executive Chairman for various entities both internal and external from the Family Group.
Chris comes from Family of Rotarians and has a vast community service experience across several Rotary clubs both large and small, has served as Director in several Avenue of Service Portfolios, is a Past Club President, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, and a Paul Harris Society member.
When not working Chris continues with the car theme and restores and races historic touring cars in both Australia and the USA. Chris met my wife Tamara whilst working in the USA and they both settled in Australia over 28 years ago. They live in Melbourne CBD and have two adult children.
