Bill has a wealth of engineering experience and his mentoring specialties include overall analysis, a good strategic viewpoint, high-tech complex businesses, engineering/lean manufacturing, internet service businesses, software companies, e-Retailing and manufacturing/service start-ups. He also does business plans for manufacturing and service businesses. Bill views manufacturing as ‘the full cycle, from understanding markets through product design, production, distribution and related services within an economic and social context’. He has managed engineering companies as a CEO and worked as a management consultant, mentoring business owners and CEOs. Bill has also been an academic at Melbourne University Business School and Monash University’s Department of Business. His diverse experience includes involvement in pet supplies e-Retailing, environmental/energy consulting and museums such as the Phillip Island National Vietnam Veterans Museum and the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum. Bill has mentored more than 200 Business Start-Ups covering all services, manufacturing & high tech. He is currently an Associate Director of a Compliance software start-up, Easy Monitor.

Bill is a professional engineer with a career involving engineering, management, consultancy and academia in the United Kingdom and Australia. Among other things he has been a work manager at a UK engineering company, operations manager for a truck plant, general manager of two engineering companies and group IT Manager for a textile Company.

As a consultant, Bill has worked with Hoskyns (Cap Gemini) in London and Price Waterhouse Coopers in Melbourne. He was a visiting lecturer at the Melbourne Business School, Asia's leading business school, and a full-time lecturer in business management at Monash University. He is also an experienced lecturer in operations management, Start-Ups, ERP, CAD/CAM, TQM and business strategy.

Bill is an AusIndustry accredited consultant in World Competitive Manufacturing (WCM), strategic design program and advanced Manufacturing Technology Investment-Evaluation Guidelines (AMT-IEG). He regularly visits manufacturing centres in Europe, Korea, Taiwan and Japan. He has also written more than 20 papers on manufacturing, IT and strategic management subjects.

Previous clients include metal trade companies, process companies, Hawker de Haviland, Calum Textiles, Robert Bosch, News Limited, Hella Australia, Visyboard, Delta Hydraulics, Alcoa, Marand Jobbing Engineering, Kodak, John Welsh Gears, Mackay Rubber, Eurovox Car Audio Systems, Reserve Bank note-printing, United Pumps, Bushells, Westinghouse, Brake & Signal and Spicers Paper.

Government assignments have included Australian automotive press tooling, the Australian machine tool network, an Australian tooling and die study, MetRail supply systems (Victoria), a NSW railways workshop and a Victorian Government Submarine project.
