It was stated in Garry’s performance review with a leading international IT corporation in 2002 that his ambition and entrepreneurial drive had proven beneficial to the company globally. The review was a reflection of the entrepreneurial flair companies seek to expand their operations and look outside the square.
From 1996 Garry has assisted businesses in Australia and Asia to develop their revenues and broaden their market outside the ‘norm’. Garry has held senior roles within GE Information Services, Infosentials, e-Funds International, LearningStream International and Labtam.

During his time at Labtam, a privately held company, Garry performed as their General Manager, Operational Development, a role similar to the ‘Intrapreneur’ most companies need looking at business growth strategies and acquisitions. Garry is now on the board of Labtam Limited undertaking a listing on the ASX.

Garry’s initial foray with Labtam was a very successful corporate-focussed ISP business, AccessOne, which was taken from zero to $30m in 2.5 years. Garry was also instrumental in effecting a change to GE Information Services business from a pure software sales company to a bureau service now known as ecXpress. This is a pilot for change in GE globally.

In the past Garry has worked with several businesses to grow their market share including an online learning company LearningStream International and eFunds Corporation, a US-based ATM/EFT processing company and software supplier to the banking market.

Currently Garry is forming a community-based enterprise with the view to building profits to be distributed back into the community. Based on the Bendigo Bank Community Bank model under a partnership agreement with Bendigo Bank, Community Development Australia and the local business community on the Mornington Peninsula, MPCE has a benefit to shareholders, customers and the community.

Garry is a guest lecturer at Deakin University School of Business for MBA students studying entrepreneurship. His knowledge of venture capital and basic business start-up processes is invaluable for students. They benefit from the practical understanding Garry imparts which strengthens their theoretical studies.

He is particularly proud of his success with selecting winners in terms of both companies and individuals. Each of the key managers from AccessOne has gone on to do well in their new endeavours and Garry has assisted four different business owners to achieve multi-millionaire status.

Garry’s strengths lie in his ability to assist business practitioners to understand their market position, to develop sales growth, expand their market horizons and to form strategic partnerships for their mutual benefit.

Garry has owned or assisted the following types of small businesses: IC12 Web Studios (Internet web design and education); LearningStream International (education IT solutions); GE Information Services (EDI/data exchange services); Asian Efinity (Asia-wide data network company); Efunds International (EFT/ATM transaction processing); Blue Duck Solutions (computer software); Labtam Ltd (manufacturing); Frontier International Holdings (surfware clothing); Federation Ltd (IP development); Quantam Lofts (sail manufacturers), and SeaLevel (surfware retail).
