Mr Ami Dulex was born in Switzerland and comes from an engineering, electronics and telecommunications background. He is highly skilled in the areas of engineering, manufacturing, import and export, IT and process management, and has gleaned much experience from roles in large corporations in Germany and Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
Ami worked for the German electronics giant, Siemens, in Munich in the mid 1960s as a design engineer. After nearly two years he returned to Switzerland to take up the position of Group Leader/Manager at Longines Watch Co. in their electronics department.
In 1969 Ami immigrated to Australia and worked for Siemens’ Melbourne office in Richmond where he took on the role of Design Engineer/Group Leader in the telecommunications technical section. He was responsible for customer liaison and support to Telecom Australia central office engineers and the Department of Defence.
Still at Siemens, Richmond, Ami went on to perform various roles as Senior Sales Engineer, Technical Manager and Sales and Marketing Manager between 1978 and 1991. As Technical Manager he was responsible for the complete range of analogue and digital transmission systems for long distance networks, and he also coordinated research and development telecommunications systems between the corporate sales and marketing area of Siemens Germany and its subsidiaries in Australia, USA, UK, Norway, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
As Sales and Marketing Manager Ami was responsible for the running of the communication network systems division dealing primarily with Telecom Australia and Australian Defence Forces. He worked at Siemens in Wellington, New Zealand as Branch Manager from 1991 until 1993 where he was responsible for the telecommunications branch office.
Ami returned to Melbourne and from the Siemens Bayswater office oversaw New Zealand office operations, evaluated opportunities for sponsorship/partnership for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and established the CeBit’95 Siemens Australia/New Zealand Exhibition in Hannover, Germany in cooperation with AusTrade. It was also his task to prepare and implement key performance indicators for the telecommunications and manufacturing division.
In 1996 Ami left Siemens and took on the role of Consultant for the International Civil Aviation University in Melbourne. He provided a feasibility study, and strategy and project planning for the communications implantation of a virtual university. He then became General Manager, Communications to implement the abovementioned concept and when this project was finalised, Ami moved permanently to Paynesville, Victoria.
Some of Ami’s attributes include his strong analytical and project management and strategic planning skills. He is a lateral thinker and innovator, able to see the ‘big picture’, and has a result and performance oriented outlook. He is also able to work in a team environment using coaching behaviours with high supportive tendencies.
