René is a recently-retired dynamic manager who has a successful history of profit improvement achieved via sustainable cost reduction, restructuring and business development and identification of spare/redundant assets and their profitable and timely disposal - all attained by excellent people management skills.  Since 1979 he had worked at CEO/Board level and has liaised with all levels of government, the public service and the union movement. He also had extensive experience in Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, America and Australasia. For over 20 years he has operated as a self-employed contractor at Chief Executive levels. His career highlights included:  • Reduction of annual costs (by $5million), 35 retrenchments and resiting of the main facility for Australia’s largest packaging ink organization.  • “Professionalization”/Strategic Plan preparation & implementation for the country’s largest independent manufacturer of personal/household cleaning products.  • Preparation of a 5 year plan for Australia’s most successful natural skin-care company  • Restructuring program formulation and implementation at a subsidiary of a major steel company. • Reduction of costs by $6million p.a., inventory reductions of 50% at Victoria’s largest bovine hide processor.  • The complete turn-around and preparation for privatization of Tasmania’s loss-making rail freight system – including streamlining of asset base and sale of $4 million of assets.  • Restructuring/relocation of a major industrial fan manufacturing and marketing company.  • The ‘professionalisation’ and profitable expansion of the leading producer of roadsweeping/garbage/recycling systems and Australia’s only producer of vitreous-enamel bathroomware.  • Similar successes in the Packaging Industry. • All roles have involved substantial cost-cutting, product range expansion/rationalization, boosts in output, significant personnel reductions and redundant asset disposals without  material disruptions to operations.
